“No fix, no fee” is one of the most important promises a data recovery lab can make — but the details matter. Here’s exactly what it means at SouthBit, and what the exceptions are.
What it means
If we accept your job under our no fix, no fee policy and cannot recover the data we agreed to target, you owe us nothing for the recovery labour. We eat the cost of the time, the equipment use, and the cleanroom hours. You walk away with your drive and pay nothing.
What counts as “fixed”?
Before any paid work begins, we agree on a target — typically the specific files or folder structure you need back. If we recover that data to an acceptable standard, the job is considered successful and our fee applies. If we can’t reach that target, it isn’t.
- All recovery labour
- Cleanroom time and assessment
- Equipment and software use
- All standard physical and logical work
- Third-party donor drives purchased for your case
- Return courier costs
- Cases involving tampering by a previous lab
Will I be told about exceptions before committing?
Always. If your case requires a donor drive or has other costs that fall outside the standard policy, we’ll tell you in writing before any paid work begins. You’ll never be surprised by a bill. Our 700+ Google reviews — averaging 4.9 stars since 2010 — reflect this approach.
