Turnaround time depends on the complexity of the failure. Simple logical jobs can be completed quickly, while physical recoveries involving head swaps, imaging unstable drives, or sourcing donor parts take longer. Here’s what to expect.
Deleted files, accidental format, partition loss, minor firmware issues. Typically 1–3 business days once the assessment is complete.
Head stack replacements, platter issues, PCB failures. Typically 3–7 business days, depending on donor parts availability and drive stability during imaging.
Severe physical damage, NAND chip-off, RAID arrays. Can take 1–3 weeks depending on case complexity and imaging time on unstable media.
What affects turnaround time most?
The biggest variable is drive stability. A mechanically failing drive may only read intermittently — the imaging process has to work slowly and carefully to extract as much data as possible without causing further damage. Rushing this step risks losing data permanently.
Donor part availability is the other major factor. For physical head swaps, we need a compatible donor drive with a matching head stack. Finding an exact firmware and hardware revision match can take a few days, particularly for older or less common models.
Will I be kept updated?
Yes. Once your assessment is complete you’ll receive a written quote and an estimated timeframe. If anything changes during the recovery — for example if the drive degrades further during imaging and the job becomes more complex — we’ll contact you before proceeding.
