Yes — if you have a suitable drive available, you’re welcome to supply your own destination drive for the recovered data. Here’s what you need to know.

What are the requirements?

The destination drive needs to be at least as large as the source drive’s capacity — not just the amount of data, but the full raw capacity. For example, a 2TB source drive requires a 2TB or larger destination. This is because sector-level imaging captures all addressable sectors, not just used space.

The drive must also be blank or formatted and in working condition. We can’t write recovered data to a drive that has its own issues.

✅ Suitable destination drives
  • External USB hard drive of equal or greater capacity
  • Internal HDD or SSD in an enclosure
  • New or freshly formatted drive
  • Any healthy drive you own
⚠️ Not suitable
  • Drives smaller than the source capacity
  • Drives with their own existing faults
  • Drives with data you can’t afford to lose (we format it)

What if I don’t have a drive to supply?

Not a problem — we can supply a destination drive and include it in your quote. We’ll recommend the appropriate size and type for your job. If you’re unsure whether to supply one or have us provide it, just mention it when you book in and we’ll advise.
