SSD drives and data backup

On June 20, 2013, in Storage News, by Nick Parsons

Just because you have an SSD doesn’t mean you should skimp on your data backup regime. SSD drives do fail, and when they do the chances of recovery are less than that of data recovery on conventional hard drives.

The technology used in SSD drives, the controllers and NAND chips, means that when a problem does arise and the drive no longer works you are in for a nasty surprise. Take into account on-the-fly hardware encryption and numerous other issues and you have a recipe for not getting your data back.

This article talks to some of these issues” http://www.pcworld.com/article/2039540/with-an-ssd-backups-are-more-important-than-ever.html
