Towards the end of 2025 a colleague accidentally dropped one of our hard drives. It contained the visuals for a television documentary that we had filmed over a period of two years.
I initially took the drive to a data recovery company in Johannesburg. But the recovery attempt failed. Someone then recommended Nick and his team in Cape Town.
Given that the first attempt here in Johannesburg had been unsuccessful, I was skeptical. Nevertheless, I decided to send the drive to Cape Town.
Throughout the process, Nick kept my operations manager informed of every development. It soon became apparent that the hard drive had suffered severe damage and that the chances of recovering the footage were extremely slim.
After numerous recovery attempts, Nick contacted us and asked which folder on the drive was most important. We identified the documentary folder.
To my great surprise and relief, Nick successfully recovered the entire documentary, saving us from what would have been a financial catastrophe and the loss of two years' worth of work.
I cannot thank Nick and his team enough for their professionalism, persistence, and expertise. What seemed impossible was ultimately achieved.
Needless to say, I will be sending additional damaged hard drives that I had previously given up on.
